Breath of Fresh Air

We made it out on our annual camping trip last night (we didn't go last year because Connor was only 5 mos. old). We camped about an hour from here at Bluejay Campground up in the Santa Ana Mountains. It's not far from Lake Elsinore, which we got an awesome view of on the way up and back. We had a great time as a family, the little bros provided many entertaining moments which made for a lot of campin' fun. :)
The boys were too cute helping Dad set up the tent...
The following picture and video are too funny not to put on here. Before we unloaded the rest of our gear, Connor decided he wanted to play lil' deejay and it was hilarious...

After we got everything completely set up, we got the fire goin' so Dave could que up our hot dogs for dinner and so we could hang out...
Next on the agenda...Smores!!!!! Dylan couldn't wait to eat Smores. And Dave's testosterone majorly kicked in while he was roasting marshmallows, he thought it would be great to burn some marshmallows, you know, just for kicks. Guys. :) The funniest, though, is when I was getting the supplies out to make the Smores and all of a sudden Dylan is beside me and says "Hey, I'm Marshmallow Guy!" I look over to see him doing this...

And then we got the sillies...

We finally got our giggles out and just chilled by the fire...

Little Bros

It was time to head into the tent for the night and try to get some sleep, try being the key word. :) The boys were lovin' the tent and of course major shenanigans were in order for them! Dylan kept throwing his pillow to the top of the tent and Connor kept plopping down face first on pillows. After we all got in our pj's, the boys thought it was the best to jump over Dad and to dogpile onto him. :) They did eventually calm down and we got tucked in for the night. Connor was too cute giving Daddy a big hug. :)

The Next Morning

"Wake up, Daddy!" :)

We ate a yummy breakfast of delicacies we don't usually have at home, our fave being the donut holes. Dylan and Connor both thought they would supplement their breakfast with Pringles and graham crackers, respectively. :) Then we headed back home after a super fun time.

Outdoors is undoubtedly our favorite place to be. Getting out in the midst of such magnificent beauty and only having the simple task of basic needs is so relaxing. It's remarkable to me every time how quickly and easily one can get in tune with oneself and just breathe. Without even consciously trying to, our whole focus shifts into a higher place. And now enjoying these occasions with our children makes it even more satisfying. Can't wait to breathe again next year...
