Milestone

Connor hit a major developmental milestone today...
he got his first pair of Reef sandals!!! :)

Learning Games

We played games tonight as a family. I recently bought Dylan the Little Einsteins Learning Games. While keeping Connor busy with some bingo chips, we played Puzzle Match, Bingo and Go Fish. We taught Dylan how to play Go Fish for the first time and he was way excited to be the winner! :)

Say Cheese!

Dylan's been asking to go to Chuck E. Cheese lately so it was great timing when he got invited to a b-day party there for his friend Matthew from preschool. Matthew has a younger sister who is Connor's age so the two of them got to hang out as well. :) The party was today and they had a blast!!!

Spontaneity

For Date Nite tonight, me and Dave decided to be spontaneous. We ended up at the Ruby's Diner on PCH in Laguna Beach. It was an absolutely beautiful night so we opted for rooftop dining. We enjoyed the ambience, especially as we had the roof to ourselves part of the time. After dinner, in keeping with the 'spontaneous' theme, we decided to drive up through the amazing neighborhoods of Laguna in search of a good overlook spot. We felt like silly teenagers again (a nice change from the usual stressed-out drones we feel we've become as of late). :) After many adventurous twists and turns, we finally found a sweet spot and reveled in our romantical alone time...

"Bob the Builder"

I took the little bros up to the Discovery Science Center in Santa Ana today. "Bob the Builder" has been the main summer exhibit and Dylan was very excited to go. He chose Roley, one of the characters from Bob the Builder, for his toy from the gift shop on our way out. He kept saying "Rock and Roley!" :) The boys had a ton of fun!!!

Before and After

We gave Connor his 1st haircut today...he's 15 months old and his little hairs had finally gotten long enough that we deemed them "unruly". :) The sides were curling out and the neck had gotten shaggy, so Dave cleaned up the sides and the back with the trimmer. Of course he cried, but it didn't take long so we don't think there will be any long-term effects. :)

BEFORE 1 (has no idea what's coming)

BEFORE 2 (now senses something)(Because the way Connor's hair is curling out on the sides in this pic, it reminds me of the following scene in the movie "The Wedding Singer": "Do you like 'Flock of Seagulls'? No, but I can see you do". Couldn't help sharing that.) :)

DURING (what the ...?!)

AFTER (ahhh...fresh 'do for the ladies)

Grand Park

Per Dylan's request, I took the little bros to Grand Park here in Aliso Viejo yesterday and they had a blast! Connor was too cute sliding down the slide and doing some exploring. He was also quite the little flirt with the ladies. :) Dylan tackled his skills on the rings and had fun with some kids he met there.

"Water Day"

Over the summer at Dylan's preschool, they've designated Thursdays as "Water Day". The kids wear their swimsuits, bring a towel and get to have fun with the swim pools, water toys, etc. Last Thursday, they even had a barbecue and ate hot dogs, chips and lemonade...Dylan was in heaven when I picked him up that day! :) He really looks forward to "Water Day" each week!

Service Project

The Primary children in our ward are working on a humanitarian service project right now. Each child is giving a set of much-needed school supplies to another child for a school in another country. I (along with most mothers I'm sure) used this service project as a great hands-on opportunity to teach Dylan about service. We headed over to Target this week and Dylan helped me pick out the supplies on the list. He was particularly fond of the green scissors he had chosen to give. I'm grateful Dylan was able to learn first-hand through this project that service means "helping other people".

In Daddy's Arms

Water Bros

For Family Home Evening tonight, we went to the pool. Dylan had a ton of fun jumping in, I love how he looks like he's running on the water in one of the actions shots! :) Connor was too cute and brave as always; he kept trying to jump in all by himself, either sitting or standing! Maybe he will swim all by himself by the age of 2 like his Dad!
