Dylan and Connor

For Date Nite tonight, me and Dave decided to be spontaneous. We ended up at the Ruby's Diner on PCH in Laguna Beach. It was an absolutely beautiful night so we opted for rooftop dining. We enjoyed the ambience, especially as we had the roof to ourselves part of the time. After dinner, in keeping with the 'spontaneous' theme, we decided to drive up through the amazing neighborhoods of Laguna in search of a good overlook spot. We felt like silly teenagers again (a nice change from the usual stressed-out drones we feel we've become as of late). :) After many adventurous twists and turns, we finally found a sweet spot and reveled in our romantical alone time...
I took the little bros up to the Discovery Science Center in Santa Ana today. "Bob the Builder" has been the main summer exhibit and Dylan was very excited to go. He chose Roley, one of the characters from Bob the Builder, for his toy from the gift shop on our way out. He kept saying "Rock and Roley!" :) The boys had a ton of fun!!!

(Because the way Connor's hair is curling out on the sides in this pic, it reminds me of the following scene in the movie "The Wedding Singer": "Do you like 'Flock of Seagulls'? No, but I can see you do". Couldn't help sharing that.) :)
DURING (what the ...?!)

The Primary children in our ward are working on a humanitarian service project right now. Each child is giving a set of much-needed school supplies to another child for a school in another country. I (along with most mothers I'm sure) used this service project as a great hands-on opportunity to teach Dylan about service. We headed over to Target this week and Dylan helped me pick out the supplies on the list. He was particularly fond of the green scissors he had chosen to give. I'm grateful Dylan was able to learn first-hand through this project that service means "helping other people".
